Region Competition Results

For the 2016-2017 Texas Association of Future Educators competition I competed in two events, Exploring Support Services Career over School Counseling and Portfolio.

I placed 1st in the Exploring Support Services Comp. which I was not expecting at all! The judges feed back is going to be very helpful, one of the judges said that I just needed to slow down. I know the content and just need to keep it cool, I had almost 3 minutes left to give more of the presentation. Another comment they made was not to look at the slides so much, I would glance at the slide every couple clicks just to reinsure myself that I really knew what what coming up next. To be ready for state in February I just need to keep on presenting and presenting just until I feel 110% confidence.

For Portfolio, I got a perfect score. All i need to do now to get ready for State is to feel in everything that I had place holders for, which may take some time, but if I go ahead and get it done know it will be easy sailing into February!

Plan of attack

This year for the 2016-2017 TAFE competition I am competing in Exploring support services.
Here is a link to the rubric

For this competition to be able to succeed, I will have to take my time and work with Mrs. Wilson to match our schedules to make sure I meet all the requirements for the job shadowing.

I will also need to be able to take my time on my presentation, and be comfortable with presenting in front of a group of people by my self.
Here is a picture of Mrs. Wilson whom I will be job shadowing.

I need to get MOVING!!!!!!

My first week as an intern!!!

I am interning at Snow Heights Elementary, with Miss Baxter. Here is a link to Miss Baxter's web page http://schools.birdvilleschools.net/she

During the time that I am with Miss Baxter and her 1st grade class, we spend the first 30 minutes outside for recess and then we move inside for math.
I am really looking forward to this year, with all my new students every single one of them are so sweet and bright. They all have so much potential.

Rules

In response to Mrs. Stevens blog, rules are important because a world without rules would be complete craziness. From a young age we are taught to follow the rules, from holding a bubble in your mouth to keep quite to respect one another to pay your taxes, rules are what keep our lives structured.

Rules in a classroom are so important especially at the younger stages of school, rules set the boundaries for students it sets them up for the rest of their scholastic careers.

Classrooms that lack rules are a complete mess there is no structure what so ever, everyone does whatever they want whenever they want. There is no respect for anyone or anything

My classroom consequences would be
1st warning
2nd color change to yellow
3rd color change to orange with parent teacher talk
4th color change to red, being sent to the office

Smartest Kids in the world-Part One

The student that I relate to the most would be Kim, because she started a GoFundMe to try and rise money to go to Finland. I am currently doing sort of the same thing trying to raise money to get to Italy this summer.

This book is pretty good, I like how it compares their experiences in the countries that they are studying in to the education experiences they had in the United States. It really shows what we as a country really need to work on to make our society get it's priorities in line and help people understand that they need an education to help them get places in life, you have to know something about something to do something.

I think that the Finland education would work best in America because they have their priorities in line, and they are one of the top education systems in the world. Teacher's need to be held to a high standard, for they are the one teaching students what they need to know to get threw life. Why do you need to go through more schooling to become a doctor than you do to have to teach someone how to be a doctor?

Treasure Hunt- QR Codes

Ahoy, Matey's!
Today, we are going on a math treasure hunt! Your groups mission today is to answer all the math questions around the room using QR Codes correctly.

QR Codes Aka Quick responses are used in many aspect of everyday life. Today I have made a math treasure hunt using QR Codes you will grab an iPad or your smartphone and download a QR Code app

I have made a math treasure hunt using QR Codes, here is how I made it,
1- go to http://www.classtools.net
2- Make up questions using the format Class Tools has set up for you. (I used simple math questions)
3- print out your QR Codes
4- Hang them around the class room

The students will then go around the room and scan the QR Codes with their QR Code App and then answer the math questions that go with the codes.
since this is a treasure hunt, every question they get right the team gets to pick out of the treasure chest!

TAFE State

TAFE State was so much fun, It was held at the University of Houston. I personally had a great time with just the experience of being around all my friends all weekend long and going on a road trip (Even though our bus driver almost killed us a few times)

I participated in our chapter scrapbook, we got a blue ribbon which is the highest you could get! I am very proud of all our hard work, it all finally paid off.

One thing that I would change for next year is I would like to compete in Teacher Created Martial, I think it would be great experience and a lot of fun! I cannot wait for TAFE next year!
